Shakira Wins World Economic Forum Charity Award
Well-known singer Shakira was acknowledged for her charity projects across the globe. The "Hips Don't Lie" songstress recently won the Crystal Award at the annual World Economic Forum earlier this year. Just recently, she helped launch the Barranquilla School Project to benefit some kids in Spain.
Mail Online reports that Shakira is a supporter of early childhood development. The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador believes that shaping the children of today will groom them to become better leaders of tomorrow.
In addition to her philanthropic ideals, Shakira has helped launch multiple charity projects. The most recent one is the Barranquilla School Project in Barcelona, Colombia. She was joined together by Xavier Bertolin of the La Caixa Foundation and vice president of Barcelona and its Foundation, Jordi Cardoner. The "Zootopia" star looked simple in business casual as she launched the project during the event.
According to the outlet, presentors of the event will be donating more than €1 million for children in the Barranquilla School Project. It aims to rehabilitate children who suffer from malnutrition. It mainly offers more opportunities for underprivileged children through sports as an outlet for education and training.
Shakira feels closely connected to the project as the Colombian beauty was born in the town of Barranquilla. The Latina reportedly brought her two sons with Gerard Pique with her during the event.
Apart from her philanthropic projects, Shakira is still pretty much active in the music scene. Just recently, Vibe has reported that she is set to appear in a music video for the song "Deja Vu" by Prince Royce. The Colombian native shows off sultry dance moves with Prince Royce.
The "Deja Vu" music video is Prince Royce's first collaboration with Shakira. He has previously worked with other celebrities including Chris Brown, Daddy Yankee and other Latinas including Selena Gomez.
