According to the Guardian, Perry described the artist as "incredibly talented & soulful." She also added that he was "an important artist" and a "man with a message."
The singer invited her followers to check out his music on iTunes, including the one the two of them collaborated on. He will be participating in her Prismatic World Tour, as she also invited people to check him out then. His run start on June 22.
"[Katy] was a natural partner," Ferras said. "[Her] instincts are really on point. She is very blunt and doesn't sugar-coat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically."
Perry and Ferras first met in 2007 when they had both been signed by Capitol.
Ferras' self-titled album was released on June 17 by Metamorposis. Ferras has written songs for Adam Lambert and Ricky Martin.
He was born Ferras Alquasi in Illinois in 1982, according to his iTunes description.
He's based in Los Angeles, and when he was five he moved to Amman, Jordan with his father following his parents' divorce. He was only there for a short of period of time before returning to the United States to live with his mother.
He moved to California at 16, and caught the attention of Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, who wanted to sign him to his label.
Ferras decided to go to the Berklee College of Music in Boston instead. Durst helped him get signed to Capitol and his debut album was released in 2008.
