California: Teen Convicted for Stabbing His Mom Multiple Times Re-Arrested After Escaping on Halfway House
The California teen who was convicted of killing his mom in 2017 was re-arrested by the authorities on Sunday after he escaped from the halfway house last week.
Identified as Ike Souzer, the 18-year-old was arrested in a homeless encampment in Anaheim, DA spokeswoman Kimberly Edds told New York Post on Sunday.
Edds also mentioned that Souzer was seized by undercover investigators.
Currently, the California teen is held in Santa Ana City Jail, and he is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday, per the Post.
It was unclear if Souzer will be in juvenile court or regular court. Edds pointed out that the California teen was serving a sentence for a juvenile crime.

Convicted California Teen Prompts Search After His Escape
The arrest of the California teen came days after he escaped from the custody of the authorities.
According to CBS News, Souzer allegedly cut off the electronic monitoring device, which he was ordered to wear until he completes his sentence in July 2023. The California teen reportedly cut off the said device hours after he arrived at the halfway house on Wednesday.
CBS noted that the unprecedented move to release Souzer to a halfway house from a prison facility was heavily contested by District Attorney Spitzer. Spitzer said that Souzer's transfer was made by a judge over a year ago.
The Orange Country Register reported that the California teen was previously held at the Theo Lacy Jail.
On Friday, the Orange County District Attorney's office warned the public about Souzer's disappearance, claiming that an "extremely dangerous and violent criminal" was on the loose, according to Fox 11.
Authorities also urged the public to call on the emergency hotline if they spotted Souzer instead of approaching him.
It was not the first time that Souzer escaped from the custody of the authorities.
In 2019, the California teen climbed over the fence of the Orange County juvenile detention center in the middle of the night, per the Post.
Reports claimed that Souzer had gotten on the facility's roof before fleeing on foot. He was recaptured the same day at a McDonald's in Anaheim.
Ike Souzer was convicted for fatally stabbing his mom, Barbara Scheuer-Souzer, in May 2017, when he was still 17 years old.
Attorneys who defended the California teen claimed that he was a victim of years of abuse.
In 2019, he was convicted of voluntary manslaughter.
In December, Ike Souzer was also convicted of battery with injury in a case involving deputy juvenile correctional officers. He was then ordered to wear the electronic monitoring device until July 9, 2023, The OC Register reported.
California Teen's Sister Says Her Brother Is not 'Extremely Dangerous'
On Saturday, Souza's sister, Berlin, told CBS News that she believes that her brother is not a threat to their community.
"He isn't 'extremely dangerous' like every news outlet is saying... if he was, they wouldn't have let him out of jail. He is autistic and hasn't been given the correct coping skills throughout incarceration. He was never taught to deal with the problems he encounters," Berlin underscored.
Berlin also mentioned that what the California teen to their mother was "self-defense," arguing that their mom beat him daily.
