The nurse accused of causing a fiery car crash in Los Angeles, California that killed six people burst into tears as the charges against her were announced.

According to Fox News, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon announced the charges against Houston nurse Nicole Lorraine Linton on Monday.

New York Post reported that Linton was charged with six counts of murder and five counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

Gascon explained that the five counts are for the five people killed in California's fiery car crash. The Los Angeles County DA noted that the unborn child cannot be accounted for the vehicular manslaughter charge.

Linton appeared before the court on Monday, and tears were seen running down her face. The nurse also appeared in a wheelchair with a brace on her arm because of the injuries she sustained following the car crash in Los Angeles.

Linton was treated at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. On Sunday, the Houston nurse was transferred to the Century Regional Detention Facility. She was being held in lieu of $9 million bail.

California Fiery Car Crash: Victims of the Los Angeles Tragedy

In total, six casualties were recorded after the Los Angeles fiery crash last Thursday. The pregnant woman who died in the crash was identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office as Asherey Ryan, 23.

Ryan's unborn child, identified as "baby boy Ryan," was also recorded as one of the deceased. The pregnant woman's 11-month-old child, Alonzo Quintero, was also killed in the tragedy, and her 24-year-old boyfriend, Reynold Lester.

Lester was reportedly driving her girlfriend to her prenatal appointment at the time. Other victims include two women and a man whose identities were not released due to pending notification of next of kin.

Eight people were also injured in the crash, including six minors and two adults. The age of the said injured ranged from one to 33 years old.

Reports noted that all the injured individuals were brought to Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center. Seven of the said people were triaged, and one of the victims was admitted in fair condition.

California Fiery Car Crash in Los Angeles

The fiery car crash in Los Angeles, California occurred when a black car sped towards forwarding traffic without any attempt to brake.

Surveillance footage from a gas station overlooking the intersection of South La Brea Avenue and Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles' Windsor Hills District showed no heavy traffic in the streets, but when cars started to fill the roads, a black car suddenly slammed into other vehicles, and crashed on some cars.

The crash involved six cars, and some vehicles were suddenly burning. A California Highway Patrol official said the aftermath of the car crash "almost looks like a war zone," describing a scene of crushed and burned-out vehicles.
