Law enforcement officials confirmed that the Texas man wanted for killing five people on Friday night has been arrested near the crime scene.

Suspect Francisco Oropesa, 38, fled the scene after killing five neighbors, which prompted law enforcement agencies to launch a massive manhunt over more than three days, NPR reported.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Oropesa had been taken into custody on Tuesday evening "without incident." San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers told the media that Oropesa was found hiding in a closet underneath a pile of laundry.

Authorities took the Texas man to Montgomery County Jail. Capers noted that Oropesa will be transferred to a facility in San Jacinto County.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Houston assistant special agent in charge Jimmy Paul said Oropesa was located after the FBI received information on their tip line.

Authorities had an $80,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest and placed more than 250 officers on the case. Oropesa is currently being held on five counts of murder and a $5 million bond, according to the sheriff.

Texas Man Francisco Opresa Arrested After Manhunt

The Washington Post reported that Francisco Oropesa was arrested by a team from the U.S. Marshals, U.S. Border Patrol's tactical unit, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Lucia Guzman, the aunt of one of the victims, said Oropesa took everything from them, and now they are "living a nightmare from which we'll never wake up."

Guzman noted that the arrest "will never erase" what the suspect did to their family, but at least they can hope for some justice.

Law enforcement officials first believed that they had cornered the suspect after he allegedly fled the scene on Friday night from the home where several members of an extended family were killed.

Search dogs then lost his scent, with the FBI Houston office later saying that the Texas man "could be anywhere."

During the early search, officials found Oropesa's cell phone, pieces of clothing, and the gun they believed was used in the shooting. However, they were unsure whether he had another weapon, prompting them to believe he was "armed" and "dangerous."

Texas Man Shot Family Dead

The killings occurred in the Trails End area of Cleveland town. Some residents said neighbors often unwind by firing off guns. Capers noted that the victims were believed to be from Honduras.

The victims have been identified as Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25; her son Daniel Enrique Laso, 8; Josué Jonatán Cáceres, 18; Diana Velazquez Alvarado, 21; and Julisa Molina Rivera, 31.

The sheriff said the victims were shot "from the neck up," the Associated Press reported. Capers noted that there were 10 people in the house, with some members having just moved there earlier in the week.

The sheriff said two of the victims were found in a bedroom lying over two children in what seemed to be an attempt to shield them.

Meanwhile, a Fort Worth man and his family are living in fear after the FBI's wrongful release of his photo online amid the manhunt for Francisco Oropesa in the Trails End area.

New York Post reported that the agents corrected their error, but the family said damage was done. The man's sister-in-law noted that the family already received death threats.
