Nicaragua: Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios Cannot Enter Home Country After Anti- Daniel Ortega Ties Were Revealed
Much like the many opposition politicians, activists, priests, and journalists that Nicaragua is banning from entering the country, Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios cannot return home. However, the Daniel Ortega Regime will reportedly agree to let her back in on one condition.
Since 2018, the Ortega regime has cracked down on all forms of dissent, violently putting down protests and stamping down on any form of criticism. These were sparked by the 2018 protests in the country, and as it turned out, the new Miss Universe participated in them.
However, according to El Heraldo, there is a report that the Nicaraguan government has given Sheynnis Palacios some conditions that would allow her to come back home and even release some hostages related to Miss Nicaragua director Karen Celebertti.
As Palacios previously protested against the government, she is now required to show her support for it as a condition of allowing her to re-enter Nicaragua. However, Palacios reportedly refused.
As Nicaragua's first-ever Miss Universe, many in the country are already awaiting her return home and the Ortega regime knows this, so they changed the conditions and have Miss Nicaragua director Karen Celebertti resign from her position as top organizer of Miss Nicaragua instead. However, this is still a theory as Celebertti was accused of treason for letting a former anti-Ortega protester become Miss Nicaragua and eventually become Miss Universe.
Miss Nicaragua Director Steps Down Amid Conspiracy and Treason Charges from Daniel Ortega Regime
According to CNN, the pageant organizer was accused of being involved in a plot to overthrow the government, though no solid evidence has actually been presented against her yet. Karen Celebertti made the announcement on Instagram.
"For 23 years I have worked with zeal and effort to exalt the name of my homeland Nicaragua... I have done it with transparency, with a lot of love and believing in each and every one of the Nicas because talent and beauty abound in every corner of the country," she wrote, adding that she will now retire.
She added, "I know that there will always be more opportunities for us: My husband and I come from hard-working, honest families that have always distinguished themselves by their support of the community... I have left an entire life at the service of my country, in the way that I can: with responsibility and professionalism."
Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios Bringing Nicaraguan Fashion Around the World
Despite her recent trouble with an infamous dictator, Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios is not really talking publicly about it and is instead focusing on her mental health advocacy, as well as introducing Nicaraguan fashion to the world.
According to Hola!, the new Miss Universe has been sporting outfits designed by talented Miami-based Nicaraguan fashion designer Shantall Lacayo in her recent trips, showing off Nicaraguan fashion styles in Jakarta, Indonesia, as well as her trips in Mexico City and Cancun, Mexico.
