Kristi Noem Banned in 20% of Her State by Native American Tribes in South Dakota

Donald Trump vice presidential hopeful and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is facing even more controversies as several Native American tribes have banned her from their lands in the state that she is governing. This is the latest blow to the Republican governor as a litany of controversies have hounded her, from killing her own puppy to lying about meeting North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Several North American tribes have previously banned the governor, with two more tribes joining suit this week. This means that she is now banned in a total of six Native American reservations in the state, which also makes her banned from 20% of her state's territory.

The latest ban against her came as the South Dakota Republican had to cut her book tour short because of the back-to-back controversies regarding it, particularly the story where she took her two-year-old puppy to a gravel pit and shot it in the head. She also lied about meeting Kim Jong Un, a topic she has been avoiding in various interviews.

The two latest tribes that banned her are the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate and Yankton Sioux tribes, which passed separate resolutions to bar her from setting foot in their territory. They join the Cheyenne River Sioux, Oglala Sioux, Rosebud Sioux, and Standing Rock Sioux tribes in banning Kristi Noem, according to the BBC.

In their pact with the US government, "Tribal governments have a sovereign right to exclude non-tribal members from their lands, with tribal law enforcement prepared to act if necessary." Only tribal and federal authorities have criminal jurisdiction over reservations, which makes her powerless in their territories.

Noem had previously tried to expand state power into these reservations, which led to the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council banning her in 2019 as she tried to put down the Native-led protests against the Keystone XL pipeline. She was also previously banned for linking illegal immigration to crime on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Before she paused her disastrous book tour to promote the new book, she appeared on CBS News's "Face the Nation" and doubled down on killing her dog while also failing to address her false claims that she met with Kim Jong Un.

"I'm so proud of this book and what it will bring to people," she said in her interview. "I'm not retracting anything."

However, when confronted about her lie about meeting the North Korean dictator, she said, "This is an anecdote that I asked to have removed because I think it's appropriate at this point in time," without admitting that she lied about it in her book.

French Official Disputes Kristi Noem Claims About Emmanuel Macron in Her Book

It also seems that Noem may have also lied about French President Emmanuel Macron in her upcoming book, "No Going Back," and not just Kim Jong Un.

"While in Paris, I was slated to meet with French president Emmanuel Macron," she wrote in an excerpt from her new book. "However, the day before we were to meet he made what I considered a very pro-Hamas and anti-Israel comment to the press. So, I decided to cancel."

However, a French official disputed this claim, telling NBC News that there is no record of a scheduled meeting between the two. The French official also added that Macron did not extend any invitation to her either.
