During a recent interview with British GQ, Shia LaBeouf's "Fury" co-star, Logan Lerman revealed that the self-proclaimed "method" actor chose to slash his own face with a knife as part of his method acting technique, Yahoo! Movies reports.

Lerman claimed that LaBeouf was not satisfied with prosthetic slashes applied to his face for the World War II movie. Thus, LaBeouf took matters into his own hands and cut his face instead.

"We were in make-up and they were putting cuts on Shia and I said, 'Yeah, yeah, it looks good.' And Shia was like, 'No, it doesn't look real,' Lerman explains. "Then he walks out into the hallway and says, 'Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out...' and he takes out a knife and cuts his face. And for the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That's all real."

The 28-year-old actor also had a tooth removed for the role, according to MSN Entertainment.

Though he did not remove the tooth himself, he did ask his dentist to fulfill his odd request, Lerman revealed.

"He didn't do it himself, he did go to a dentist and asked them to pull his tooth out but yeah, what an odd request," said Lerman.

Following his tooth removal procedure, LaBeouf took to Twitter to flash his new toothless smiles to his fans, Yahoo! Movies reports.

In the selfie photo, LaBeouf appears to be in a car sporting an army Fatigue hat along with a partial smile.

He captions the photo, "When you get a role to sink your teeth into- do it #fury." The photo has since been deleted.

Though Lerman describes LaBeouf's method acting tactics as "odd," his other "Fury" co-star, Brad Pitt described Labeouf's technique as "full on-commitment."

"He's living it like no one else, let me tell you," Pitt added.

"Fury" hits theaters on October 17. Watch the trailer below.
