Manny Pacquiao will look to score a knockout win in his upcoming fight against Chris Algieri, but assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez said that the Filipino boxing champion will be ready to chase his challenger for 12 rounds.

Fernandez, who is leading the training camp until trainer Freddie Roach arrives in the Philippines, said in an interview that they are preparing hard for the fight, knowing that Algieri might decide not to mix it up against Pacquiao in their Nov. 22 fight in Macau.

"We are training him for more head movements, more punching combinations and a non-stop assault," Fernandez said in a Philippine Daily Inquirer interview. "We expect a bigger and taller Algieri to run around the ring. We should be ready for that."

Roach recently said that Algieri managed to escape with a split decision win against Ruslan Provodnikov in June because he refused to mix it up against the then-Russian champion after getting knocked down twice in the first round.

In case Algieri decides to use the same tactic against Pacquiao, Fernandez reiterated that the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion will be ready to chase the unbeaten challenger.

"We will employ non-stop pressure. Our fighting congressman [Pacquiao] will chase him wherever he goes. Then try to throw three to five punching combinations to the head and body," Fernandez said.

Conditioning will be a key for Pacquiao in order to employ non-stop pressure against Algieri. Fernandez said that Pacquiao is not yet in perfect shape, but he is confident that the 35-year-old will be in top form on fight night.

"The way I see it, he's 88 percent ready at this stage," Fernandez said. "It's still a long way to go. My job is to prepare him for a more heavy training when Coach Freddie Roach arrives."

Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's longtime adviser, recently said in an interview that they expect Pacquiao to be in his best possible shape for the Algieri fight, pointing out that most of them were surprised with the former pound-for-pound king's focus on training camp.

"We'd never expected that he's going to train seriously like this in boxing," Koncz said in an interview with Manila Times. "We thought basketball is the other priority but he focuses more on boxing here in General Santos. Manny knows what he's doing so far and I'm very happy to see it."
