Sunday Night Football 2013 - NFL Sept. 22 Scores, Results and Winners: Giants Scoreless Against Panthers
Week three of the 2013 NFL season and the games are getting tighter and hotter.
Sunday Night Football is certainly a part of the American culture already that it's almost a sin not watch the games at home. While the perfect SNF would include tight matches that will leave you at the edge of your seat until he final seconds, tonight's games had very little of those. Nonetheless, they were still great matches to see.
Here's a quick look at some of the games played on the field today.
Houston Texans vs Baltimore Ravens, 09-30
The defending champs stay alive after winning a landslide against Houston at home. It was the second quarter surge and the Ravens' defense that gave the team the win and the Texans their first loss. Daryl Smith stepped up to the plate and made a pivotal interception over Owen Daniels on a Matt Shaub pass to complete a TD. The Texans also failed to score in the second half of the match. The Ravens now move up to 2-1, while Houston fall 2-1.
New York Giants vs Carolina Panthers, 0-38
In what could be the worst performance of the team so far this season (or last, or the year before that), the Giants failed to put a single number of the score boards with a 0-38 loss against the Panthers. Eli Manning was sacked by Carolina's defense seven times, and failed to complete a pass for a touchdown. He only had 119 yards and 1 interception, while Came Newton of the Panthers posted more pleasing stats with 223 yards, 3 TDs and 1 interception.
The game gave Carolina a new record for the largest margin of a victory in its franchise history, says NFL.com.
Arizona Cardinals vs New Orleans Saints, 07-31
The Saints scored every quarter, with 14 points in the last, to secure a win against the Cardinals. New Orleans was led by future Hall of Famer (we're pretty sure of this) Drew Brees who had 29 of 46 for 342 yards, securing 3 TDs - one to Robert Meachem and two to Jimmy Graham - and 1 interception. The Cardinals was scoreless in the next three quarters, falling to 1-2, while the Saints move up 3-0.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New England Patriots, 03-23
The Buccaneers scored 3 in the first quarter and that was the last time they did through their faceoff against the Patriots. The Bucs had several errors that may have cost them the game. NFL.com notes that the team "turned the ball twice on downs, Rian Lindell missed a 38-yard field goal attempt...and Josh Freeman threw an interception to former Bucs cornerback Aqib Talib with 11 seconds left in the first half."
Tom Brady had 2 TD passes to rookie Kenbrell Thompkins as the team rise 3-0. The Buccaneers fall 0-3.
Chicago Bears vs Pittsburgh Steelers, 40-23
The Steelers sloppy ball handling cost them the game against the Bears, who move up 2-0. Pittsburgh gave too many turnovers that the Bears have capitalized and turned into scores to give them a commanding lead before the end of the game.
Amidst several turnovers, Ben Roethlisberger still was able to post 406 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The Steelers now fall 0-3 in the standings.
