Country music's biggest night was filled with star appearances that tested the boundaries of fashion in many ways. The 2014 Country Music Association Awards co-host and mommy-to-be Carrie Underwood made headlines with her richly embroidered gold gown, as did Faith Hill's surprising pixie haircut.

The star-studded extravaganza would not be complete without a look at the red carpet fashion that earned country music stars our best and worst dressed award.

2014 CMA Awards Worst Dressed

Taste of Country lists three of the worst dressed celebrities at the 2014 CMA Awards:

1. Brantley Gilbert

He wore a pair of black jeans, gaudy silver rings and black ball cap. The singer had a rockin' style, but black slacks would have been a better choice. (He also made E! Online's worst dressed CMA list for the second year.)

2. Gretchen Wilson

The "Redneck Woman" wore torn jeans and a sleeveless basic black shirt suited more for a night out pub crawling in Nashville. The best part of her outfit were the great looking black boots.

3. Hillary Scott

The Lady Antebellum singer-songwriter's hair and makeup were beautiful, but she chose a black dress that left little to the imagination.

E! Online named these country music celebrities to the worst dressed list:

4. Aubrey Peeples

Her sparkling skirt was CMAs-appropriate, but her cropped top was not.

5. Clare Bowen

The Nashville starlet's gown looked like a prom dress. The embellished bottom half was too much.

6. Kacey Musgraves

Her lovely beaded gown was upstaged by the most outrageous, teased hairstyle the CMA Awards has ever seen.

2014 CMA Awards Best Dressed

Here are other picks for best dressed, as named by E! Online:

1. Miranda Lambert

She stunned onlookers in a soft pink halter gown that emanated class and Old Hollywood elegance. The sheer paneled details and a flowing train draped her fit and toned physique beautifully.

2. Carrie Underwood

The host wore a richly embroidered gold gown with flattering high-low hem and sheer overlay bodice that looked fantastic but didn't reveal much of her baby bump.

3. Lucy Hale

Country music's newest addition grabbed attention on the red carpet in a crimson, belted gown.

4. Nicole Kidman

She looked radiant in a graceful white gown that edged toward risqué with its ultra-sheer lace fabric.

5. Kellie Pickler

Pickler is a winner for best dressed thanks to her midnight blue bejeweled gown featuring sheer illusion panels. Her hair, makeup and gorgeous gown was flawless.

Meanwhile, Taste of Country added these best dressed men to the list:

6. Blake Shelton

7. Keith Urban

8. Chase Rice

9. Chris Young

10. Clay Walker

Us Weekly also proclaims Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were the best dressed couple at the award show.
