It was back in August when Nick Cannon made the shocking announcement that he and Mariah Carey opted to split up and live in separate homes.

"There is trouble in paradise," Cannon first told The Insider back in August. "We have been living in separate houses for a few months."

Since Cannon's announcement, the couple has continued to remain separate. However, now it seems that both Carey and Cannon have agreed to join together in the spirit of the holidays.

In Touch Weekly reports that the "America's Got Talent" host recently revealed his decision to spend the holidays with his estranged wife and their 3-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan.

"Gotta keep that going. I want to make sure we have a wonderful holiday together," Cannon told In Touch Weekly.

When asked where he and Carey planned to celebrate the holidays, Cannon replied, "Somewhere cold and snowy, like Aspen [Colorado]."

Although it is unclear whether Cannon and Carey will reconcile their marriage, InTouch Weekly reports that the father of two is taking his relationship with Carey "one day at a time."

"We talk and text every day," Cannon added. "My children are my No. 1 priority. Everything I do is for them. I just want to be the best father I can possibly be."

Since the couple's split, Cannon has gone on to remove his once massive Mariah Carey back tattoo, while Carey opted to throw subtle jabs at Cannon during a recent performance in Tokyo last month.

TMZ obtained an audio clip of Carey's performance in Tokyo, to which the "Always Be my Baby" singer performed a remixed version of Bille Holiday's "Don't Explain."

In the audio clip, Carey can be heard changing Hoilday's "Don't Explain" lyrics from "And I know you cheat/Right or wrong, don't matter" to "I know you cheated motherf***er."

Following Carey's "Don't Explain" performance, TMZ suggested that Carey's lyric change might have been her way of detailing the reason behind the Carey-Cannon split.
