A Texas teen was sentenced to life in prison Thursday for killing his 15-year-old classmate in a Satanic ritual.

José Reyes was charged with capital murder for killing teenager Corianne Cervantes as part of a Satanic ritual where she was mutilated, raped and gouged her eyes out.

The 18-year-old Houston native lured the girl into an empty apartment along with 16-year-old Victor Alas where they both raped her before beating her to death, according to Daily Mail.

A jury charged Reyes after deliberating for just an hour according to Fox News Latino.

"José is spiritually dead if he says he wants to sell his soul to the devil as he has stated," Michelle Abermethy, Corianne's aunt, told reporters after the verdict was announced. "I don't believe he is spiritually alive. He is dead, and he is going to spend the rest of his life in prison where he belongs."

The victim's father Cory Cervantes also spoke,

"He had no emotion, no feelings, no compassion whatsoever," he said. "My daughter no longer has a voice. We are fighting for her. It's all about Corianne, and right now I just want justice for her. I loved her very much."

Corianne was murdered last February and left with an upside-down crucifix carved on her body. Evidence shows that she was tortured before her death.

"To believe that that kind of evil exists in this world in this day and age is just, how can somebody do that to another human being?" Jennifer Hall, a family friend, said.

Several witnesses said that Reyes bragged about the murder.

Prosecutors said Reyes believed he sold his soul to the devil and convinced Alas that he could too if they killed the girl, according to USA Today.

"I was sick-minded stabbing that (expletive) 60 times," Reyes wrote in a jail house letter. "It's all good. It's what the devil asked for."

Alas is facing capital murder charges as a minor. He will be tried separately beginning in January.
