Mexican President Enrique Nieto fired back at Oscar-winner director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu for making comments about the nation's government system

Inarritu's film "Birdman" won four of its nine Oscars nominations including Best Picture.

"I want to dedicate this award for my fellow Mexicans, the ones who live in Mexico," the director said in his acceptance speech. "I pray that we can find and build the government that we deserve."

The Mexican government is facing many problems for its continued gang violence, murders and slipping economy. Iñárritu's comments were looked at as a jab from fellow Mexicans against the nation's issues, Yahoo! News reports according to AFP.

Nieto said he is working to ensure his country allows "individuals to write their personal success stories, so each individual can find suitable and optimal space to build a path of success."

"As a country it brings us pride to know that Mexicans can triumph -- here and outside Mexico -- because as a government it's our job today to make things better," Nieto said.

PRI, Mexico's governing political party, also responded to the Oscar winner's comments, via Twitter.

"Agreeing with Mexican pride, it is a fact that, more than deserving it, we are building a better government. Congratulations #GonzálezIñárritu," the party said in Spanish.

Meanwhile, Mexican residents lack faith in their government so much so the nation is introducing an independent court to sanction public servants for corruption offenses. Mexico's Congress is in the midst of discussing a new anti-corruption system for its current term in an attempt to address the public's lack of faith in government ever since the president and his wife and the nation's finance minister bought property from companies that won government contracts.

Mexico's Federal Audit Office leader Juan Portal said his country will soon suspend their suspicions when the program is in motion.
