World AIDS Day recently celebrated its 25th anniversary on December 1 which helped the entire world reflect on the milestones made in heightening the awareness level of every person and community about the HIV epidemic around the globe.

CBS Local interestingly recalls that the first ever awareness day for this campaign first happened way back in 1998. And for its 25th year, its organizers state that their goal is "to unite the world in the fight against HIV and to show support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died."

Various organizations are not just offering HIV testing for free but also celebrating the campaign through a wide range of events such as the following:

In Orlando, the Parliament House and Team MAC Cosmetics Orlando held the Legendary Reflections gala on Sunday, 9 p.m. at 410 N. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the event benefits the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida.

San Francisco celebrated at the National AIDS Memorial Grove which measures up to seven acres of land and made in 1991. A candlelight vigil was held in celebration and symbolism of light and life, ABC Local stated.

In Los Angeles, a food drive was held in the county level to help patients with HIV which lasted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A free screening of "We Were There: The AIDS Years in San Francisco" was organized by the AIDS Service Center at the Armory Center for the Arts Community Room.

Other activities made in line with the World AIDS Day celebration include a gospel concert at the Oasis of Peace Christian Fellowship Church by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, an afternoon of storytelling, poetry and dance at the AIDS Monument in Lincoln Park.

Even in other parts of the world like India, World AIDS Day was widely celebrated through parades joined in by groups of volunteers, college students and a lot more carrying placards that give a shout out about the campaign.
