Rihanna Hot New 'R8' Abum Release 2015: 'FourFiveSeconds' Singer Set Out to Make 'Timeless' Record She'd Want to Perform in 15 Years [Watch]
Rihanna finally detailed her anxiously awaited eighth studio album, rumored to be titled "R8."
During a press day for her new animated DreamWorks film "Home," the Barbadian singer revealed what fans can expect to hear from her upcoming record.
"I've made a lot of songs that are just really, really big songs. From the jump, they just blow up," she told MTV. "And I wanted to kind of get back to -- not that they weren't real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever."
Rihanna admitted that many of her songs from the past have not aged with her, further noting that her latest project will be "timeless." She set out to have songs that would still work 15 years down the line.
Rihanna sometimes feels "burnt out" from singing the same songs.
"I find that when I get on stage now, I don't want to perform a lot of my songs because they don't feel like me," she said. "So I want to make songs that are timeless."
Meanwhile, the "Diamonds" hitmaker is reportedly teaming up with Prince in the studio for her forthcoming LP.
"Prince is among the most respected songwriters of all time but chooses his collaborators carefully," an industry insider recently revealed to Boston Herald's The Edge. "Rihanna is so chuffed he wants to work with her and is considering rushing a performance of the track into the Brits. She really wants the song to be a single."
In addition to the pop icon's contribution, "R8" will be produced by none other than Rihanna's "FourFiveSeconds" collaborator, Kanye West.
"I'm executive producing Rihanna's album," he told E!'s Ryan Seacrest at this year's Grammy Awards. "I played her my album, and I said I got a few songs with Paul McCartney. She couldn't get past the record. She had to have it on her album."
"So now we're at the Grammys doing it," he added.
