The Dallas Cowboys will not have DeMarco Murray carrying the rock next season. Murray had an incredible season last year leading the NFL in rushing yards and touchdowns. He even broke Emmitt Smith's franchise record for most rushing yards in a season.

Still, the Cowboys have a great offensive line that is capable of making average backs look great. Jerry Jones has options this offseason as there are still some valuable running backs who remain free agents.

Here are five free agent running back options for the Cowboys to consider:

1. Chris Johnson

It feels like so long ago that Johnson ran for over 2,000 yards in a season with the Tennessee Titans in 2009. There's no doubt Johnson has lost a step, but he's still a quick back who can beat defenders to the outside if given the chance. Johnson has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in six of the last seven seasons. He obviously can't replace Murray, but Johnson has stayed far more healthy than Murray has over the years. Johnson has missed just one game in his career, which came during his rookie season. It's also important to note that Johnson did average 4.3 yards per carry last season with the New York Jets.

2. Knowshon Moreno

Last season ended pretty early for Knowshon Moreno after he tore his ACL in October with the Miami Dolphins. A bad injury, but Moreno did run for 1,038 yards in 2013 with the Denver Broncos. That season he helped the Broncos get to the Super Bowl where they eventually lost to the Seattle Seahawks. There's no doubt Moreno is still a quality young back, but health is the big concern here. If the Cowboys can add Moreno for a small price for about eight to 12 carries a game, this could be beneficial.

3. Ahmad Bradshaw

Ahmad Bradshaw has battled multiple injuries over the last few seasons, but he's a good situation back with great postseason experience. Bradshaw has averaged at least 4.5 yards per carry the last three consecutive seasons, with both the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts. The Cowboys have a great offensive line, which could keep Bradshaw relatively healthy. Bradshaw on the Cowboys would be interesting to see as he would face his former team twice a year.

4. Stevan Ridley

It's been a rough last two years for the former New England Patriots running back. Stevan Ridley ran for 1,263 yards in 2012, when he last played a full season, but the last two years have been highlighted with injuries. This previous season he tore his ACL and MCL. Ridley is still just 26 years old, and he's a very talented back with Super Bowl experience. If the Cowboys can get Ridley on a small, short-term deal, than this could be a good signing. Anything more than three years or $5 million guaranteed is a big risk.

5. Steven Jackson

Believe it or not, Steven Jackson has the most career rushing yards of any active rusher in the NFL with 11,388 yards. Frank Gore has the second most with 11,073 rushing yards. Jackson is now a free agent after two years with the Atlanta Falcons and nine years with the St. Louis Rams. Jackson turns 32 years old this summer, but he can still carry the load. Just last season he had 707 yards and six touchdowns on a mediocre Falcons squad. There's no reason to believe that Jackson couldn't be a good fit with the Cowboys offense in a limited role.
