Ricky Martin Kids: 'Adiós' Singer Is Ready to Be Father to a Girl, Reveals He Chose Gender For His Twins
In a recent interview with Australian radio show "3 PM Pick Up," Ricky Martin revealed that he is ready to be father to a baby girl.
Martin, who is already father to 6-year-old twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, said that he now wants to add a baby girl into the mix of his family.
Martin's sons were birthed via a surrogate and he was able able to choose the gender of his first children by way of in vitro fertilization. Now that he wants to have a girl, Martin plans to use the same methods to ensure that his child is born female.
"I have to start trying for my little girl. I want to have a big family because kids are wonderful. I was able to choose my sons' gender thanks to in vitro fertilization," Martin said to "3PM Pick Up," via El Mundo.
In addition to wanting a large family, Martin's desire to have another child stems from the easy parenting experience he already shares with his sons.
Martin explained that his twins are very compatible and rarely get into fights.
"Both have a dominating personality, but when one decides that he wants to be in charge, the other always lets him," Martin explained.
In a past interview with Spanish-language magazine, Elenco, Martin also talked about his sons' personalities, revealing that his son Matteo has adopted his musical qualities while his son Valentino enjoys serenity and nature.
"One of them is a drummer. My own drummer told me, 'It's not that he plays the drums, it's that he gets sound from the drum!' That is Matteo," he said. "Valentino is more about peace and love, and at the moment he is going to plants and is always covered in mud. He is more fantastical and I love it. They are so different."
Martin has yet to reveal when he will begin the process to have a baby girl.
