Season 2 'Gotham' TV Show Cast & Spoilers: Supervillain Firefly to Appear During Sophomore Season, Showrunners Cast Michelle Veintimilla
The sophomore season of "Gotham" is swelling with villains. The latest addition of Firefly has only expanded the criminal line up.
The Riddler, Tigress, Catwoman, Penguin and the Joker are just some of the scoundrels that will prowl the street of Gotham starting this coming September, and Detective Jim Gordon will undoubtedly have his hands full, particularly because his ex-beau, Erin, has gone rogue, and there's more trouble on the way.
Supervillain Firefly has been added to the lengthy list of criminals to appear during the second season. However, the character will be presented differently than usually portrayed in DC Comics. Instead of being depicted by a male actor, actress Michelle Veintimilla ("Those Who Kill") will take on the role of Bridgit Pike or Firefly, a character that's a well known lover of fire.
The lawbreaker will appear in the fifth and sixth episode of the upcoming season. According to IGN, Veintimilla's character was "enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit's fire-starting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her."
DC Comics describes Firefly as an expert in pyrotechnics and explosives. The character also wears a suit that's equipped with grenade launchers, a flamethrower, a jet pack and wings, permitting flight. The TV show has yet to share details about Firefly's abilities, however.
Showrunner Bruno Heller has said that the city will "decline into chaos" during the series' second season, especially with newcomers Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), aka Tigress, and her brother Theo (James Frain) joining the cast.
"Gotham" Season 2 premieres Sept. 21 on FOX at 8 p.m. EDT.
