“Outlander,” the wildly popular time travel series based on the novels of Diana Gabaldon, may be getting a new and famously sarcastic star.

RadioTimes has been following tweets by “Outlander” hunk Sam Heughan, who seems to be trying hard to entice Ricky Gervais, the original obnoxious boss on BBC’s “The Office,” to join the show.

The 35-year-old Heughan has offered everything from wigs to dogs to snacks to get the comedian to agree to a guest spot. Gervais, whose usual brand of self-deprecating humor has been known to easily slide into the sadistic during award ceremonies, seems to have a problem with the potential schedule and the period costumes, asking, “What are the hours?” and “Will you make me wear a tartan skirt?”

Social media surely is the place to get info on what may or may not be happening in upcoming episodes of "Outlander."

Check out the exchange between the two:

Author Diana Gabaldon has just posted some info on Facebook regarding the script she will be contributing this season. Gabaldon, who reveals that she has written comic book scripts before but never an actual TV or movie script, says the experience is much easier than working on a novel.

“Frankly, the most difficult part of it all was the formatting software,” she jokes, cautioning her fans not to expect exactly what they have read in her books to be expressed on screen.

She says the script is done, but adds that “as with anything involving writing, and especially anything involving television—that’s only the beginning.”

“All kinds of issues arise, before and during filming, that require changes to a script. Many of these are very minor, a few might involve ditching multiple pages and inserting a whole new scene or set of scenes,” she says.

The most important thing, says the writer, is how the script plays. The true mark of sucess being: “Can the actors do the lines without repeatedly cracking up?”
