This week, "Rizzoli & Isles," will air its 12th and final episode before the series goes on a midsummer break. Since it will be a long time before the program returns, fans can expect a thrilling and exciting midseason finale.

The dynamic duo of Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles are now back in Boston after a quick change of scenery in last week's episode. The partners went on a brief break as they followed a murder lead in Los Angeles that was somehow connected to a case they were investigating at home.

The sunny weather offered a short respite for the two hardworking partners, but now that they are back in Boston, it seems that things are about to make a dark turn as one of the two lead characters might be in grave danger.

Episode 12 is titled "5:26," and according to the official synopsis in TV Guide, the grisly events will begin when a vintage watch is found. The object is somehow connected to Jane and Maura.

"An old watch is discovered inside a balloon of cocaine in a dead woman's stomach, and determining the timepiece's significance becomes a key to protecting Jane and the people she loves," stated the episode synopsis.

While it's not clear what the significance of the title is, it is likely that the old watch they found stopped at 5:26 and that this has a deeper significance than what was initially thought.

In the promo video of the episode, Maura was seen talking to Jane while a dead body lies on the table in front of her. The medical examiner told Jane that she "has a surprise," presumably referring to the corpse.

It is highly probable that the body on the examination table is the same as the woman with the old watch. But what the connection of the woman, the watch and its relation to Jane is remains to be seen in the episode.

Subsequent scenes in the short clip showed Jane rushing outside a building but were stopped by police officers and then later lamenting that someone has "taken everything there was to take."

The person she was referring to might have something to do with the dead woman and the threat to Jane and her loved ones but as to what the exact danger he poses will be discovered in the midseason finale.

"Rizzoli & Isles" episode 12 and midseason finale will air on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 8 p.m. on TNT.
