Legendary horror novelist and film director Clive Barker ("Hellraiser") is now in production on a TV series based on his book "Weaveworld." The series is part of a larger group of projects the famous horror fiction novelist has been planning to do with his famous works from the '80s.

According to Deadline, Barker's 1987 novel will be getting a bit of modernized makeover and several elements of the original story will also be omitted due to its intended network, the CW, airing it under FCC regulations.

The story itself is about a girl who is a pastry chef who has discovered she can access a mythical realm through a portal in an old Savannah mansion. This portal will be the ultimate destiny for her as she has been chosen as the guardian of the realm. Her destiny will also cross paths with an app developer who in some way will be helping her along with her journey.

There has been no word yet if the show will take place exclusively in the realm or if they will be switching back and forth. The CW network usually green lights its series for 22-episode seasons, but there have been some instances where the network would shorten certain series to 12 or 13 episodes.

This is not the first time the TV universe has tried its hand at adapting the novel. Over the past two decades, the story itself has been in development, only to be later abandoned due to the shear amount of special effects and cost that it would require. One of the networks that have tried to take the show on as a miniseries was Showtime.

Barker is best know for his legendary works in horror, which includes "Hellraiser," "Candyman," "Nightbreed," "Rawhead Rex," "The Midnight Meat Train" and "Lord of Illusions."

There has been no word yet when production will start on the series, nor when it will premiere on the CW network.
