EPL Week 9 Scores, Table & Standings: Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal Dominate Foes
Manchester City retained the top spot, while Manchester United and Arsenal remained within striking distance after dominating their respective opponents in Week 9 of the 2015-16 English Premier League season.
Manchester City 5 - 1 AFC Bournemouth
Manchester City played without several key players but they were able to score an impressive 5-1 win against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday in front of more than 54,500 fans at Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City, who played without Sergio Aguero and David Silva, got a much-needed boost from Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Bony, who were both on target against Bournemouth.
Sterling opened the scoring parade with an early goal in the 7th minute, while Bony made it 2-0 four minutes later. Sterling then struck another one in the 29th minute and completed a first-half hat-trick before the halftime whistle sounded. Bony then punctuated their victory with his second goal in the 89th minute of the match.
Manchester United 3 - 0 Everton
Manchester United had another impressive night, as they scored a 3-0 victory against host Everton on Saturday at Goodison Park.
Morgan Schneiderlin netted the first goal of the game 18 minutes into the match, while Ander Herrera scored another one four minutes later. Red Devils superstar Wayne Rooney joined the scoring parade with a strike from the right side of the box off an assist from Ander Herrera.
With the victory, the Red Devils remained within two points of Manchester City with 19 points from six wins, one draw and two defeats.
Arsenal 3 - 0 Watford
Watford managed to stay toe-to-toe with Arsenal in the first half, but the Gunners shifted to next gear in the second half to run away with a 3-0 win on Saturday at Vicarage Road Stadium.
Alexis Sanchez broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 62nd minute followed by goals from Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey in the 68th and 74th minute of the match.
With the win, Arsenal remained second in the standings behind Manchester City. They also have 19 points like Manchester United, but they have a better goal difference.
