‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Season 5 Episode 5 Recap: Lady Gaga Shows Tender Side
Lady Gaga's The Countess showed her tender side on the most recent episode of "American Horror Story: Hotel" on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old singer's vampire character on the FX series helped an unhappy married man transform into a woman named Liz Taylor, according to the Daily Mail.
Liz, who is played by actor Denis O'Hare, told desk clerk Iris, played by actress Kathy Bates, how "a married man from Topeka could wind up as Liz Taylor in the Hotel Cortez."
The man turned woman then began revealing his past to Iris. He lived as an unhappy married man, working as a traveling medical representative. He confessed his only true happiness came when he was able to wear his wife's dresses while alone in his hotel rooms.
In one scene, as he went to the door to grab some room service champagne, he dropped his key. After stooping to pick it up, he found The Countess looking at him.
"I've been watching you, love," The Countess said. "You dress like a man, walk like a man -- but you smell like a woman."
The man complimented The Countess on her beauty and said he himself was "so ugly."
In response, The Countess said, "No, you don't lack beauty -- you lack commitment."
She then helped transform him from man to woman, shaving his head, putting makeup on him and giving him the name Liz Taylor.
Taylor then went to grab some ice from down the hallway, when he ran into two colleagues from work coming back from a strip club.
One of the men asked, "What is this? Nick, are you a f*g?" while the other called him a "godd*mn f*gg*t."
To Liz's surprise, The Countess swooped out and slashed both of his colleagues' throats.
After telling Iris the story, he told her that she needed to stop being taken advantage of by a hipster couple staying at the hotel. Taking this advice, she proceeded to stab the woman in the neck with a bottle opener and then stabbed the man in back, finishing them off by sucking their blood.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" airs on FX Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
