David Beckham Named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive
David Beckham has been named People Magazine's 2015 Sexiest Man Alive.
The news that the 40-year-old English Football Hall of Famer earned the title came on Tuesday night's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" according to Entertainment Weekly.
Kimmel played 20 Questions with the audience to reveal the magazine's choice. The host asked questions like "Have you every played a superhero?" "Were you ever in a boy band?" "Has Taylor Swift ever made a song about you?" to help audience members guess the identity of the mystery man.
The late night talk show host proceeded to announce the man in question was Beckham. He then chatted with the former soccer player via video call and revealed Beckham's People Magazine cover.
"It's the best moment of my career," Beckham joked. "I would obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world. And I'd like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist, and Photoshop."
When Beckham's wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, found out about his new title, she told the couple's sons, who seemed surprised by the magazine's choice.
"We kind of laughed about it with the boys, and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, 'Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?'" Victoria Beckham told People. "Around the house, David is just David, not the Sexiest Man Alive! ... He's a really good person. He's a really great dad, he's very kind, charitable and he inspires me every day."
Beckham, who retired from professional soccer in 2013, won league titles in four different countries and played in three World Cups. He has also appeared in ad campaigns for Adidas, Armani, H&M and Pepsi.
Other men who have been named People's Sexiest Man Alive include last year's honoree Chris Hemsworth, along with Adam Levine, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Hugh Jackman.
