Hispanicize 2014 Begins April 1, and Latin Post Will Be There: Stay Tuned for the Latest on Latino Trendsetters, Tech and Media
The fifth annual Hispanicize event kicks off April 1 in Miami, and Latin Post will be there covering the events. Hispanicize 2014 takes place at the InterContinental Miami hotel, featuring Latinos in journalism, technology, music, film, and business for the four-day event that's dubbed "the largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers."
Hispanicize 2014 is expected to gather over 1,700 of the country's most influential Latinos from wide-reaching industries, including blogging, journalism, music, marketing, film, and business, as well as Latino thought leaders and celebrities. New products, technologies, social media strategies, and cultural endeavors for Latinos across the country will be featured at various sessions during the week, which includes workshops, presentations, film screenings, and awards.
Latin Post will be at Hispanicize 2014 reporting on many of these events, with special coverage of Latinos in technology, media, and startups.
For example, the Latino Startup Alliance, a non-profit founded to support Latino tech entrepreneurs to get their ideas off the ground, recently launched a contest for "Latino Startup of the Year" in association with Hispanicize. Startups from the fields of social media, journalism, film, marketing, music, and entertainment were welcome to apply and pitch their ideas. Throughout Hispanicize 2014, the founders with the best startups will be presenting their ideas, and later in the week the winner of the grand prize will be announced. Stay tuned for news about that.
In addition, Hispanicize Wire, the company behind Hispanicize 2014, collaborated on a project earlier this year with California State University, Fullerton, Florida International University and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists to look into the state of Latino journalism itself. Those organizations compiled a survey asking Latino journalists their beliefs about social media, technology, their career outlook, and Latino media. The survey was launched in early February, including journalists who work for both Hispanic and non-Hispanic media outlets, and the results will be presented during a session at Hispanicize 2014. Latin Post will be there for those results, as well as lots more.
