In the Latino entertainment industry, there were plenty of sad, shocking and happy moments in 2014. Here's a look at 12 of the biggest things that happened this year.
Cuban-American rapper Pitbull, a.k.a. "Mr. Worldwide," is getting 'Sirius' when it comes to mixing his musical tastes, sharing them with his fans and creating his own radio channel.
On June 12, the FIFA 2014 World Cup Opening Ceremony began with the sights and the sounds of the Brazilian Amazon — from dancing, human raindrops, trees and acrobatic lilies to human soccer balls. And after the sounds of rainfall and thunder dissipated, Cuban-American rapper Pitbull, Puerto Rican Bronx, New York native Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer and "Voice" judge Claudia Leitte, emerged from a giant flower and performed "We Are One," (Ole Ola).
The trio is down to a duo, as just Pitbull and Claudia Leitte will perform. Someone will be noticeably absent for the World Cup opening ceremony. Jennifer Lopez has pulled out of the performance because of "production issues," the Daily Mail noted.
The 2014 World Cup will broadcast the soon-to-be hit single "We Are One (Ole Ola)," a collaborative effort featuring Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian artist Claudia Leitte, as its official anthem. Lopez, Leitte and Pitbull are also scheduled to perform that song at the opening ceremony in Brazil, which will take place at the Arena de Sao Paulo on June 12th. FIFA made the announcement on Thursday in a press release.
