5 Jenna Ortega Movies You Probably Didn't Know She Starred In
2022 had been a breakout year for Latina actress Jenna Ortega, whose role as Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series "Wednesday," made her a household name.
Ortega started her acting career with small and often nameless roles in television and films, including "Iron Man 3," "CSI: New York," and "Insidious: Chapter 2."
However, she snagged her first major role in the Disney Channel sitcom "Stuck in the Middle," where she played Harley Diaz.
She continued with more minor roles in TV and films until she started landing on bigger roles, according to Capital FM.
5 Jenna Ortega Movies to Binge Watch
Before "Wednesday," Jenna Ortega managed to star in other lesser-known titles and big-budget film franchises. Here are five of them.
The Babysitter: Killer Queen
One of her earliest main roles was as Phoebe Atwell in Netflix's black comedy teen horror flick, "The Babysitter: Killer Queen." Jenna Ortega plays the love interest of the main character, Cole Johnson, played by Judah Lewis.
She is the new student attending Cole's school. While the movie itself was not very special, it marked a trend for Ortega to star in Netflix originals and teen slasher horrors.
Scream (Reboot)
According to IMDB, this film is set 25 years after the original and sees the return of some of the franchise's biggest names, like Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell.
As for Jenna Ortega, she had a bit of a minor role here, as the first victim attacked by the new Ghostface, setting the scene for the new killing spree.
The Fallout
Jenna Ortega received critical acclaim for her role as Vada Cavell in this HBO Max film about the aftermath of a mass shooting.
It was such a stellar performance that several critics flat-out said this was the actress' "breakout" film role. That includes The Hollywood Reporter's Sheri Linden, who praised her acting.
Studio 666
Jenna Ortega has been getting more and more roles in teen horror roles as of late, and one of these is the Foo Fighters film, Studio 666, where she appeared alongside David Grohl and the rest of the band.
She plays Skye Willow in the movie, and though her role was short, she did have one of the more memorable deaths.
X
We have another horror film here, which has undoubtedly become a trend for the young Latina actress early in her career. "X" has received critical acclaim, especially with Jenna Ortega's performance as Lorraine Day.
While critics mostly praised lead actress Mia Goth, who was nominated for multiple awards for the film, critics also praised Ortega's performance, receiving a nomination for Best Newcomer from the North Texas Film Critics Association for her role in the movie.
