Florida Man Flips Off Police While Trying to Get Away Before Getting Run Over by a Truck
A Florida Man tried to flip off Florida police officers from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office as he tried to get away while riding his motorcycle. He would soon regret this as shortly after, he was run over by a pick-up truck.
Deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office were trying to stop a group of motorcyclists on Old Dixie Highway "driving recklessly" and passing in a no-passing zone. The group soon tried to flee, with one of them being seen flipping off the law enforcement officers as he fled.
The motorcyclist drove through a red light at an intersection when he was hit by the truck. Police officers soon caught up to the rider and arrested him. Police soon identified him as Joshua Richardson, according to NBC affiliate WESH-2.
The Volusia Sheriff's Office posted about the incident on Facebook, saying, "Here's a good way to get yourself killed."
Florida Man Facing Various Charges After Traffic Incident
The group of motorcyclists was spotted by the Volusia County deputies while popping wheelies in the middle of a busy highway. As they sped off, they ignored several police cars that were trying to pull them over, according to Law and Crime.
After he was run over by the truck, Richardson was reportedly hurt but not critical. He has now been charged with multiple offenses, including fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting without violence, and leaving the scene of a crash.
The Florida Man also received several citations for his actions that night, including failure to stop at a red light and passing in a no-passing zone.
Florida Man's Arrest Caught on Camera
Videos of the incident have now been posted on the internet, including YouTube. Richardson, the motorcyclist, has been presented as yet another crazy Florida Man.
Videos showed that after his motorcycle was run over by a truck, Richardson somehow survived and was still able to walk. He stood up and tried to escape law enforcement officers while on foot but was soon caught.
Body camera footage from one of the deputies was released by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. There, the Florida Man can be seen writhing on the ground and telling deputies he is in a lot of pain.
The New York Post reported that while being handcuffed, Richardson told the deputies that he was hurt. One of them then told him that he was an "idiot," to which the motorcyclist acknowledged, "I know."
Richardson can be heard complaining as police took him away, with one officer telling him, "You know how your leg doesn't get hurt? You don't run from the cops and crash your bike." Another deputy then responded that he did not think what Richardson did was funny but found it to be "incredibly stupid."
Richardson was also seen telling the supporters that he and his group were being chased by 12 cops, asking, "What am I supposed to do," to which one of the deputies told him, "Stop and figure out why we're chasing you."
