The "How I Met Your Father" show is being resurrected to be aired in partnership with 20th Century Fox Television. The show which is a spin-off of CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" will be narrated from a female point of view which is opposite of the original show. Furthermore, the spinoff will not showcase a cameo for characters from the original but will instead have a brand new setting with new characters.

"How I Met Your Father" Spinoff Details

According to Variety, "How I Met Your Father" is the second attempt at making a spin-off for the hit series "How I Met Your Mother." The first spinoff entitled "How I Met Your Dad" was created in 2014 and was written by the original series creators Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and Emily Spivey. They had planned for Meg Ryan as the narrator with Greta Gerwig as the star of the show. However, the show did not meet the expectations of CBS higher-ups then.

The script of "How I Met Your Father" will now be written and produced by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, the same writers who penned "This is Us." Bays and Thomas will also serve as the executive producers of the new spinoff. The new show is currently in the works and is hoped to make it to TV screens for 2017-2018.

"How I Met Your Father" will have new characters and setting and will not feature characters from "How I Met Your Mother." According to CSN, the show will have the same format as the original sitcom with a female narrator.

"How I Met Your Dad" would have been starred by actors Anders Holm, Andrew Santino, Drew Tarver, Nicholas D'Agosto and Tiya Sircar to name a few. However, there has been no word of who were cast to play the unannounced characters for "How I Met Your Father."
