The second trailer starts with Abstergo CEO Alan Rikkin citing some advancements of technology that leads to the Animus. His words were ""1917, we split the atom. 1953, we find the double helix." And we can only conclude that this ended with the existence of Animus, that allows one to relive the journey of ancestors such as the upcoming film.
