'Super Mario Run' Latest News: First Nintendo smartphone game sprints to iPhones, jumping soon to Androids in 2017?
The Nintendo Co. has finally realized its dream of bringing one of its game on mobile phones. This serves as good news for gamers of all ages as a reminiscent of retro era "Super Marion Run" took a jump on Apple devices this Thursday.
While the "Super Mario Run" is limited for users of iPhone, Nintendo guns to bring the beloved classic game to Android devices as well, which currently composed the majority of smartphones in the market today. Although there is no definite timetable, it might be sometime in 2017.
As per Japan Times, the release of the game was the first full test of the Japanese game maker on smartphones. Considering, however, the success of "Pokemon Go," which Nintendo co-developed, investors are also hopeful of its success and even expecting that "Super Mario Run" will give the gaming community a boost.
Macquarie Securities analyst David Gibson even said: "I wouldn't be surprised to see we wake up Monday or the weekend, and it's number one in many countries around the world in terms of gross revenue. But within a short period of time that is not the case, then it loses that momentum."
Likewise, Atul Goyal at Jefferies Group predicted a whopping 500 million downloads of "Super Marion Run" by the end of March 2017. The game will be available in 150 countries with a free access on three levels but users need to pay $10 to avail the full version of the game and to unlock all of its 24 stages.
Furthermore, gamers cannot expect the original "Super Mario Bros." to be the one sprinting on their phones as Nintendo's Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto said to Wired, that would be boring. As such, Nintendo intended to incorporate the evolution of the game in various platforms that it had ran on for decades.
“If we did put Super Mario Bros. on the iPhone, (people) would say, ‘Wow, this is well-done, but are you actually going to expect me to pay money for it? Why isn’t this free?’,” Miyamoto started. “We try to create products that have value that people are willing to pay for.”
