Godzilla 2 and Pacific Rim 2 get new titles ahead of their release
Many have been fascinated with Legendary Picture's monsters namely Godzilla and the Kaijus when they were released a past few years ago. Their gigantic sizes matched up with the fans excited for a sequel and it is nearing. However, even months before the release, a trailer still can't be seen but an update on the movies have surfaced and it includes a different title which we can only theorize from.
According to Slash Film, Godzilla 2 and Pacific Rim: Maelstrom have been modified to different titles and was revealed as Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Pacific Rim: Uprising. In this utter change of titles, many have theorized and conclude summary that can be expected.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been thought of to be a nod to Godzilla: King of the Monsters! Which is an American film in 1956 as an adaptation of the Japanese version. Further, the title maybe a reference to another King of Monsters, King Kong which is set to face off with Godzilla in a 2020 movie. If this is true, they may set off to see who the real king is.
Further, Nerdist wrote that Pacific Rim: Uprising may have a plot not about Kaijus more but on the resistance of the characters involved. It was theorized that the jaeger pilots may take an uprising against the current rulers of the Earth. Additionally is that, it was said in the first movie that survivors weren't treated fairly which could lead to rebellion. Another idea is that it is merely a literal kaijju uprising and take over the planet.
Nonetheless, it is fairly exciting to see these monster themed films in theaters in 2018.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to hit on March 22, 2019 while Pacific Rim: Uprising has an earlier release of February 23, 2018.
