NBA News: Thunder Dealts Cameron Payne To The Bulls, Marks The End Of NBA's Best Pre-game Dancing Duo
Player Trades in professional sports leagues like the NBA are pretty much bittersweet - while they usually upgrade teams in one way or another, they also result in teary goodbyes to well-beloved players of a particular team. In the case of the Oklahoma City Thunder's recent trade move, it marked the end of a dynamic dancing duo that was unmatched by any other.
According to Mashable, the Thunder sent young point guard Cameron Payne to the Chicago Bulls ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline, in a package that will surely benefit both sides. Oklahoma City in return would get a pair of solid shooters, but the downside of this trade is that fans will no longer be able to witness the entertaining spectacle that is Payne and Russell Westbrook's pregame dancing.
The duo - self-proclaimed "Swagdaddies," as what Payne told ESPN last year - has been rolling out the slick and funny moves for a couple seasons now. "It is just how it is," Payne said. "Just something we love to do. We want to come out to the crowd and try to make the game as fun and entertaining as possible so we come out loose, and be ready to play the game."
According to PegIt Board, the Chicago Bulls have been looking towards getting younger and more versatile, and they made a move that they hope will make that happen by trading away Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The deal was close yet it still went through and the Bulls will receive Cameron Payne from the Thunder.
The reports also added that the Bulls will also get Joffrey Lauvergne and veteran shooter Anthony Morrow from the Thunder, who will also be receiving a second-round pick in 2018 to go along with Gibson and McDermott. The two teams hope that the recent trade would bolster and improve each of their rosters.
