'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 3 Spoilers: Mack's Role Important for Inhumans, Daisy Johnson
Mack's role on Season 3 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will be vital in Daisy Johnson's quest for finding the other Inhumans or powered people like her.
The mechanic Mack (Henry Simmons) will team up with Daisy (Chloe Bennet) in the search for these gifted individuals, as per Entertainment Weekly. The site described them as the Mulder and Scully of the agency, pertaining to the famous alien-hunting FBI special agents duo in Fox's hit series "The X-Files."
The bit was teased by one of ABC series' creators, executive producer Jod Whedon, with "the person who's skeptical of alien stuff and the person who has it inside of her" joining together.
One fan of the show, klutzy_girl, was interested why would they team up.
"On 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', why exactly is Mack — who has shown to be anti-alien and powered people in the past — working with Skye on a project that's supposed to be secret and looking for powered people?"
Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) already addressed it in last season's finale when he told Dr. Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood) that he's making Mack "in charge" of these alien artifacts because of his "deep distrust" of them.
Still, Coulson must be prepared for the possible repercussions of his decision, especially because Mack was very tough on his stand, as seen in the final episode, where he did not allow extensive research on the Kree monolith contained in a glass enclosure.
"We're never opening that d*mn box in a thousand years," Mack told Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), who was eager to know more about it.
Moreover, he told IGN that there can be tension between Coulson and him again if Coulson insists on looking for the Inhumans. No one can blame him for being very abhorrent of these alien stuff, especially when has experienced being controlled by the underground city made by the blue aliens called Kree, as seen in the "...Ye Who Enter Here" episode in season 2. That time, he attacked his team, endangering his friends including Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki). Thus, he could act abruptly next season, like cutting off Coulson's hand when the Terrigen crystals turned his hand black.
Still, there's still hope for Mack to soften his view on this matter, especially with Daisy working along him. He could probably see why they should find the "powered people" first before the other group, which also longed to get them, as teased by Spoiler TV.
