"Kingdom Hearts 2.9" wasn't even on the gamers' radar until new leaks emerged. Details of a secret "Kingdom Hearts" game got leaked through LinkedIn, along with specifics on the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3."

According to a report from Game Zone, the new information was leaked when game designer and director Richard W. VanDeventer updated his LinkedIn profile. Some of the details he included were working for developer Square Enix on "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" and "Kingdom Hearts 3."

It's not the first time the title of 2.9 came up. Game Zone noted that the game title was part of Square Enix presentation schedule during E3 2015, but it was scrapped without explanation and very little fanfare. This could mean it's completely cancelled or a kind of ReMIX of the "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX" and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX." The leak suggested that "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" is limited to PlayStation 3 and 4.

The details for the "Kingdom Hearts 3" is much more specific, perhaps due to its more solid future in the market. It includes remarkable upgrades including Pixar participation and a Gummi Ship system. The online component that was mentioned by the team previously was also touched on.

It was earlier this summer that "Kingdom Hearts 3" game director Tetsuya Nomura hinted at an "online component" for Square Enix's upcoming action role-playing game.

"Online is certainly part of my wish list - we want gamers to play for a while and an online component helps this," he said, in an interview with Engadget. "While we may be focusing on the main campaign at the moment, but it's not as if we're going to tack on an online function at the end. In fact, we've already got plenty of ideas brewing at the moment. However, we're still not at the point where we can test these ideas inside the main game."

In the same interview, Nomura explained the bigger world that fans can expect from the new "Kingdom Hearts" installation, saying, "The visual aspects have evolved a lot. Not only the particle effects within the battles, but also the sheer scale of it. While the world may not be comparable to massively open-world titles, it's far bigger than previous 'Kingdom Hearts' titles."

More details will likely be revealed during the Tokyo Game Show 2015. According to Game Zone, Square Enix is set to participate in games like "Final Fantasy XV" and "Dragon Quest Builders," plus an event in their lineup titled "Secret." This event will be revealed on Sept. 19, 2015.
