Tracy Morgan made a surprise appearance at the 67th Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 20, where he gave an emotional speech.

The 46-year-old comedian made his triumphant return to the Emmys stage at the Microsoft Theater in LA, after his unfortunate car accident last fall, reports Fox News.

The traumatic incident, which occurred in June 2014, left the comedian in a coma after he suffered a brain injury. The accident also claimed the life of his close friend and fellow comic James McNair.

Addressing an audience at the awards ceremony that included many of his close friends and acting peers, Morgan gave a heartfelt yet comical speech, thanking his doctors for all their dedication in helping him to recover.

"I miss you guys so much," Morgan said. "Thanks to my amazing doctors, and the support of my family and beautiful wife, I'm here. Standing on my own two feet."

His speech was given a standing ovation from several of his close friends, such as "30 Rock" stars Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski, and Amy Poehler.

After giving his speech, Morgan spoke with Us Weekly backstage about how it felt to receive such kind support and a warm welcome back from his colleagues.

"It was overwhelming. 15 months. I'd missed it," Morgan said. "So when I got on stage it was overwhelming for me. I had to not be so emotional in that moment -- I just wanted to let them know I missed them. I missed them very much."

Morgan attended the awards show joined by his wife Megan Wollover and their two-year-old daughter Maven. The newly married couple wed last month in New Jersey and welcomed their daughter in July 2013.

Morgan also had the honor of presenting "Game of Thrones" with the award for Best Drama Series.
