Carly Rae Jepsen was announced on Wednesday as the newest cast member of the upcoming Fox musical "Grease: Live."

The "Call Me Maybe" singer will take on the role of fuschia-haired beauty Frenchy in the musical reboot, according to People. Didi Conn played the original Frenchy in the 1978 film. This is not Jepsen's first foray into a live musical, as she starred in "Cinderella" on Broadway last year, earning rave reviews.

Along with Jepsen, other cast members joining the musical production include Kether Donohue ("You're the Worst") and David Del Rio ("The Troop") in the roles of Jan and Putzie, respectively.

British singer Jessie J is also set to open the show singing her own rendition of "Grease (Is the Word)." Barry Gibb wrote the original song for the 1978 film.

Members of the cast previously announced include Julianne Hough as Sandy, Aaron Tveit as Danny, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Carlos Penavega as Kenickie and Keke Palmer as Marty.

Choreographer Zach Woodlee from "Glee" will be piecing together the musical's dance numbers.

Fox's "Grease: Live," which will be the first live musical to air on the network in the modern era, is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 31. NBC spearheaded the trend of live TV musicals in 2013, when they aired "The Sound of Music" with country singer Carrie Underwood, which was followed last year by "Peter Pan" with "Girls" star Allison Williams in the lead.

Jepsen last released "Emotion," her third studio album, on June 24. The album produced the singles "I Really Like You" and "Run Away with Me." "Emotion" is the follow-up to her 2012 offering "Kiss."

The singer recently announced her Gimme Love Tour. She will play tour dates in Washington, D.C., Boston, New York and Philadelphia in the month of November. There's no word as of yet if she will be adding more dates.
