'Transformers: Age of Extinction' makes its debut on movie shelves Tuesday as Hollywood will offer a number of new selections for a variety of audiences. So what else is in stores on Sept. 30?
After a disastrous summer at the movies, Hollywood will have to figure out a way to revive the fall box office. The industry is currently on pace to have one of the worst years ever. The following takes a look at some of the trends that occurred during the summer.
"Transformers 4: Age of Extinction" was not a huge box office success but still did well enough to keep the franchise strong. There will undoubtedly be a fifth installment, and while there is little known about the film, here are things we can seemingly bank on for 'Transformers 5'.
Visual Effects supervisor Scott Farrar has been in the film industry for a long time and his body of work includes all four "Transformers" movies, "Jurassic Park," "Minority Report," "World War Z" and the "Star Wars" franchise. He has been nominated for six Academy Awards and won back in 1985 for his work o Ron Howard's "Cocoon." Farrar had a moment to speak to Latin Post and talk about his work on "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and how this new installment was different from the past three films. Here is what he had to say.
This year has seen a number of hits at the box office as well as a number of flops. The winter season saw "The Lego Movie," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Divergent" surpass expectations and became successful financially. However after the first month of the summer season, Box Office Mojo is reporting that the box office took a hit, and this past May is the lowest since 2010 because of the lack of successful movies.
Recently, Mark Wahlberg, star of the upcoming "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and new face of the franchise, next to Optimus Prime of course, spoke with the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex to discuss how he prepared to work opposite a computer-generated character.
Mark Wahlberg is confident that the newest Transformers film, "Transformers 4: Age of Extinction" will knock it out of the ballpark. The Wrap quotes the new Transformers lead as saying, "It is bigger and better than the other three combined," Wahlberg said, going on to predict that the film would be the biggest hit of 2014," during Monday's CinemaCon 2014.
Everyone knows that the "Transformers" movie franchise is one massive big-screen advertisement for Hasbro's toys. But we can't really complain since the movies about realistically-looking robots transforming into cars (or vice versa) were very awesome.
