Elizabeth Olsen Twitter & Instagram: 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Actress Reveals Why She Won't Join Social Media, Violent Movies
In her cover story for Fashion, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" actress Elizabeth Olsen explained why she has no social media accounts.
Olsen explained that she rather have people know her for films rather than for what she posts online.
"I don't [use] social media, and I feel like that's how people control their image. My image, in my mind, is just to disappear. I just want people to see the work that I'm proud of," she explained.
When asked whether she would consider getting an Instagram or Twitter account later down the line she replied, "I'm not going to do it -- ever."
E! News notes that while Olsen's "Avengers" co-stars all have social media accounts, they set certain boundaries online. For example, Scarlett Johnansson and James Spader have implemented a privacy setting on their Tumblr accounts while Chris Evans only uses Twitter and Facebook.
In addition to discussing the reason why she will never tweet, Olsen also talked about her feelings on how her generation of young adults is portrayed in the media. She revealed that she dislikes how today's generation is portrayed as spoiled and entitled.
Because of her frustrations with how her generation is portrayed, she is mindful of the roles she decides to play in an effort to break the stereotype.
"I read this brilliant script the other day that is a thriller but I had to say no to it. There's enough violence in the world, why add to it?" she explained.
And though there is violence in "Avengers," Olsen insists that superhero movie violence is different than in regular movies.
"Superhero movies are about destroying robots not people so that doesn't count. Besides, all the heroes -- especially in Marvel comics -- are about heralding the underdog or the outsider," she said.
Olsen shares the same passion for her superhero character Scarlet Witch in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" who she describes as "grounded and centered."
"She has access to the past, the present, the future and parallel universes -- she can connect with all of them," she said.
"The Avengers: Age of Ultron" hits theaters on May 1.
