'Scream Queens' Season 1 Episode 8 News: Jamie Lee Curtis Recreates Mom Janet Leigh’s ‘Psycho’ Scene
Jamie Lee Curtis recreated the infamous shower scene from "Psycho," which was originally performed by her mother Janet Leigh in 1960.
The 56-year-old actress paid homage to her mother in the new episode of "Scream Queens," which aired on Tuesday night, according to People.
Curtis plays the role of Wallace University's Dean Cathy Munsch on the Ryan Murphy slasher comedy. In the black-and-white clip, Curtis steps into the shower. The door to the bathroom then opens and a dark shadow with horns lurks behind the shower curtain for a moment, before quickly pulling it back.
The actress spoke with the magazine about how her attitude toward Hollywood is a bit different than that of her famous parents, Leigh and Tony Curtis.
"Given what their backgrounds were and how their rise to fame was so meteoric, that sort of thing was important to them," Jamie Lee Curtis said. "When I'm out in the world, I don't walk around like my father used to. He'd walk into a restaurant and preen and pose and say, 'Hello, you fine people. I'm Tony.' . . . That's not me."
Curtis has plenty of experience in horror films, as her debut role as Laurie Strode came in 1978 in John Carpenter's "Halloween." In addition, she starred in similar genre films, including "Halloween II," "The Fog," "Prom Night," "Terror Train" and "Roadgames."
One of her most recent recurring TV roles was as Jessica Day's mother Joan on the Fox comedy series "New Girl."
Curtis has also landed a role in the action comedy drama "Spychosis," directed by Gabriel Schmidt. The film follows a dormant spy who is being hunted by assassins after being exposed by a Wikileaks controversy. Other stars featured in the film include John Savage and Eileen Davidson. "Spychosis" is due out June 9, 2016.
"Scream Queens" airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
