Blake Shelton has openly admitted he doesn't want his new girlfriend Gwen Stefani to leave "The Voice."

The 39-year-old country singer discussed how Stefani will be taking a break from the show after season nine, but if he had it his way she would be staying, according to People.

"I don't want Gwen to not be on the show, why can't we have a fifth coach?" Shelton said in an interview with Extra.

Interviewer Renee Bargh brought up the possibility of the show having two female coaches, and Shelton replied, "Why can't there be?"

When asked whom she will miss most after leaving her post at "The Voice," Stefani did not say Shelton but said she'll miss the "chemistry" of all the coaches.

Adam Levine said he is going to miss Stefani's style on set the most when she leaves next season.

"I think Gwen has been a stand-out moment. Somehow, when Gwen walks in the room, we all look like we've been wearing the same outfit for 10 years," Levine said.

Stefani and Shelton refrained from talking about their romantic relationship during the interview.

The pair announced they were dating back in early November.

"Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating," Stefani's representative confirmed in a statement to Us Weekly.

Before the two announced their relationship was official they were spotted at several Halloween parties together.

Both singers went through splits from their spouses over the summer. Shelton parted ways with his wife Miranda Lambert in July, while Stefani called it quits with Gavin Rossdale in August. Stefani will share custody of their three sons, Apollo, Zuma and Kingston.

Christina Aguilera is set to return to take over Stefani's spot as a coach on "The Voice" for season 10.

"The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
